NEW PRODUCTS IN WINE AND SPIRITS 2010 By Jesse Sartain
As part of the World Beverage Championships' on-going search for new products in the categories of wine and spirits to recommend to our nation-wide network of 10,000 beverage buyers, I have recently conducted a survey of new products at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers Show in Las Vegas and at Pebble Beach Food & Wine in Monterey, California.
Some general trends in the industry have affected this year's new product search. Many of these trends are related to the downturn in the economy, namely: consumers are tending to drink at home; they are favoring hard alcohol, mostly Vodka, and they are not always favoring premium or top-shelf brands. Of course, everyone in the on-premise industry is doing everything they can to reverse this trend: offering premiums, conducting special promotions and generally trying to offer unique experiences that the consumer simply cannot replicate at home. -READ MORE- |
